Dont Get Caught "Inside" in the Cold...
The Fall season is upon us and winter weather is quickly approaching. Are you one of those people who wait until the last minute, until it is almost freezing in your house to turn on the heater? Well don't get caught in the cold. Make sure that you give your heater a test run during the fall season and make sure that it is in good working order. You don't want to go to turn it on that first time you NEED it, only to find out it is not working properly.
Before you turn on your heater be sure to give it a good once over and make sure it is clean and the filter has been cleaned or changed. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, give a call to a reputable HVAC service company and have them come out and do the work for you.
If you have an oil burning heater or boiler be sure to check your fuel level, And have your yearly Maintenance preformed. Make sure all your vent lines are clear and free of debris.
If you are a wood burner, be sure to have a qualified chimney sweep come in and clear your chimney of any built up Creosote. Creosote causes many deadly chimney fires every year.
It is extremely important that you take all necessary precautions when starting your heater this winter. Each year Thousands of people are killed by Carbon Monoxide poisoning caused by faulty heaters.
